Sometimes People Suck

Friends, please read this. We HAVE to protect our children. Unfortunately, sometimes, even from people in social service positions designed to help. It is a damn shame that a few give off the impression of being inept assholes, while the rest of us working with children & families in social service roles fight to uplift & engage each person that walks through our doors.
This event is simply disgusting. For these "people" (I use the term VERY loosely) to take advantage of & violate these children & the people wanting to do something special for them makes me sick. What a feeling of abandonment these children must have after providing a wish list for someone (i.e., reaching out: "These are my NEEDS; help me feel like every other kid") & receiving nothing they asked for. "Doesn't anyone care about ME? Is anyone paying attention?" The Sawyer Family, their friends, & every other person sponsoring a child living in the foster care system in Jonesboro wanted that child to feel special, loved, & REMEMBERED. At least for one day. And these deplorable individuals stole that from the children. I pray that charges will be filed in this case. Behavior like this cannot, & should not, go unpunished.
I hope that by sharing this story we can all work toward holding those "in charge" of our children in the foster care systems (and any other social service agency, for that matter) accountable for their actions, positive & negative.
